Adding Lessons to Module

To create a new lesson, click on "New". To edit an existing Lesson, click on the title from the list of Lessons. A lesson can contain any type of content (Joomla articles, pages or custom fields) and questions.

Title: This is the title or name of the lesson.

1. Lesson Tab

Description: This is the description or content for the lesson. Here, you can add text, images, links or videos using Joomla! editor. You can use this for short lessons (one-page lessons) or lessons which contain tests only.

Module: Select the module to attach it to the lesson.

Reference: You can add any reference number or text. This can be used for better organization of the lessons or for ordering of lessons at the front-end.

Short Description: It is the description about what the lesson contains. It is visible on the Course detail page.

2. Options Tab

Display Type: This defines how Joomla articles or pages associated with the lesson are displayed. There are two options:

  1. Single Page: All Joomla articles or pages are displayed in a single page.
  2. Multiple Pages: Each Joomla article or page is displayed in different pages with navigation.

Completion Type: This defines how the lessons are marked completed. There are four options:

  1. Disabled: Completion is disabled for the lesson.
  2. Self: Students can mark the lesson as complete themselves.
  3. View: The lesson is marked as complete when the lesson is viewed.
  4. Score: The lesson is marked as complete when a student takes (with required score) a test or quiz associated with the lesson.

Percent: If the completion type is score, you can set the minimum percentage required in the test to mark the lesson as complete.

Restrict Access: You can restrict the access to the lesson based on certain conditions. For example, if you want students to complete a lesson before viewing the current lesson. 

  1. Type: Select the type of restriction - Lesson Completion, User Group, or Course Start Date.
  2. Value: Enter the value for the restriction - ID in case of Lesson Completion and User Group, Relative Days in case of Course Start Date.

3. Content Tab

Here, you can add Joomla articles or TF Learn pages as content for the lesson.

4. Questions Tab

Questions: Number of questions to add to the lesson quiz or test. Enter 0 to disable it. Questions are selected randomly.

Marks per Question: Marks awarded for the correct answer to the question.

Multiple Attempts: Enable or disable to allow multiple attempts for the quiz or test.

Grade Type: This defines how final score (recent, average or maximum) is determined when multiple attempts are allowed.

Attempt Gap: Number of days student must wait to re-attempt the quiz or test.

How to Add Lessons to Module?

There are two ways to attach your lessons to the module. You can use either one or both.

Directly select the module while editing the lesson.
While editing the module, add the lessons under the Options tab. In this way, you can reuse your lessons in multiple modules.
